World of Gaus
An extremely old city-state in the northern reaches of the snowy land of Olstrom, it is the homeland of the mysterious and solitary Ankhew. Thought to be the oldest surviving society in Nol, having been founded over 30,000 years ago during one of the primordial eras. Time has not changed it significantly, and the same ancient magics still pulse within its ornate constructs.
A democracy in function, officially speaking Ehnahr is a theocratic republic. Sages and clergy are elected by citizens within their district convents. These officials, called Chancellors are to represent their district’s wishes on the high council, which is called the Hundred Pointed Star, for there are exactly 100 representatives. In practice, however, the citizens will partake in virtually all major decisions, flooding the high theater above the mains seats, and enthusiastically partaking in votes and debates. This system works largely due to the candid empathy inherent in every Ankhew — they share and discuss feelings freely among one another, almost by necessity due to lacking facial features. Those that do not share this forthright disposition often leave the city, looking to find their place out in the wider and less intimate world.
It is a gorgeous place, built into a tall white mountain. Large portions of the districts and boroughs float serenely in the chilly skies, supported by ancient magics and runes carved into their foundations. The buildings are ornamental, with an almost fragile and delicate look about them. They are sturdy enough to keep out the howling northern winds, however, so there must be something more to them than meets the eye.
